Engineer speaks scene: my thoughts

I just saw the full Engineer speaks scene, thanks to Nragemachine's magic (thank you very much indeed!).

It's a very good scene, it's tense, I loved the voice of the SJ and he says what you would expect him to say.

I still think the movie's better off without it, though.

The whole thing doesn't make much sense to me. It's true that Weyland behaved like an arrogant prick but surely that's not a good enough reason to go crazy and kill everyone in the room. There has to be more than just that.

Moreover this probably killed two of my favourite theories: a) Telepathy (that's how a superior species should communicate IMHO); b) Two factions of engineers at war, good and evil, the latter hate us and want to kill us because we're the greatest creation of the former - a bit like God vs Satan vs mankind.

The Engineer obviously knows English and understands what Weyland is saying - that's ok, maybe they've kept a close watch on us humans over the years.

I loved Rapace's expression of terror when the Engineers speaks - great acting, there!

Ford's reaction was intriguing and interesting, as well. A mixture of terror, confusion, sadness and disappointment - there's another great actress, folks.

And then there's Shaw's escape. The Engineer could easily have killed her but apparently he chose to let her live. It's not surprising, she was the only one in the room that showed some common sense and didn't behave like a lunatic.

If you think about it, the scene is actually quite funny. Here's a superior being that wakes up after a two thousand year long hypersleep and the very first thing he encounters is a bunch of pretentious midgets that want to live forever. The merc hitting Shaw probably didn't make such a good impression, either.
