Inspired by some of the discussions about the scaling down of the engineer i started to look at the film more closely. I always felt the engineer was elevated somewhat but apparently the actor playing him was only 7 foot, this apparently is a retcon because the original engineer was apparently supposed to be 12 feet in height. But after looking at these pictures i don't actually know how much retcon has taken place for instance

Michael fassbender is 6 foot tall yet in this picture the engineer while kneeling is around the same height

So how tall are the engineers and has there been any retconning from the original alien?, it seems to be something original fans were pissed off about, so how tall is the engineer supposed to be? to me in the above picture if jackson is 6 foot then the engineer must be around 10 feet in height maybe taller, in other pictures maybe around 9 feet but to me there isn't that much difference in concept art and the finished product.
