Man, I am excited for October 11th.
As an avid 3-D Blu-Ray enthusiast and as a Prometheus obssesser, I simply cannot wait for this. For the first time in a while I think I'll be watching every damned special feature, explore every possible commentary, etc on the disc. Besides being wildly excited for this release, I also still have some questions and some hopes regarding the Blu Ray itself.
Obviously the director's cut is a huge deal for me. I still (and this may be because I'm simply out of the loop) am not sure how they'll be presenting the film. I know in the case of other BLU RAY 3-D directors cuts, the 3-D is unavailable for the extra scenes because it simply wasn't transferred or completed. In this case (Green Lantern is an example) the movie is presented in Theatrical 3-D, and Director's Cut 2-D. I am seriously hoping that unlike GL, Prometheus wasn't post converted so maybe if there IS a director's cut, it will be in 3-D.
I am also hoping that, much like all of the IMAX 3-D films and movies like Avatar, that the transfer to blu ray will greatly outshine the theatre print in terms of clarity, quality, and overall 3-D. I'm crazy excited to see certain scenes in PROMETHEUS again on my 60" 3-D, especially one or two seconds from the Skye scene that literally looked gorgeous and very in-depth in the theatre.
Mostly I am curious about the whole director's cut fiasco. I am praying they don't do something stupid like exclude it for a later release. While I'm hoping all deleted scenes will be presented in 3-D, I find this doubtful, but seeing as I'm stupid excited for the alternate Fifield scenes I might not really care. Most of all I am fucking siked for some kind of commentary, or at least some extremely after-the-fact spoilerful interviews with Ridley and the gang about the movie.
And of course I'd love to hear some early PROMETHEUS 2 chatter come up somewhere in this disc as well. Either way, October can't come soon enough.
