Making a thread for things that I, and you, have noticed watching the DVD (or in my case, the rip) that you missed while watching the movie in theaters. Feel free to post these, here.
I noticed that at 1:03:35, the rescue party is standing in a giant, open space next to a huge arch filled with bluish-grey smoke. The man in the foreground (one of the security guards, I presume) shouts Fifield and Milburn's names, only to get no response. He then turns around and he and the rest of the party proceed through the arch, their descent into darkness and danger accented by a bass-level horn of some kind. This horn sounded exactly like the one used by James Horner in Aliens, and the image of the rescue party going through the arch looked exactly like the marines proceeding inside the nest under the atmospheric processor (right after Hudson says, "You tell me man, I only work here.").
Another thing I noticed was at 1:41:27, Janek says, "Alright, gentlemen, let's do this." As he says this, he holds onto the controls with one hand, holding his other arm out to the side. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but I was reminded of Slim Pickens riding the atomic bomb all the way to the ground in Doctor Strangelove, hooting and hollering and waving his hat in the air. All that was missing in Janek's case was the cowboy hat.
Lastly, at 1:45:11, when Shaw enters the main room of the lifeboat, a bunch of books lay scattered across the floor. Many are open, and their pages are blowing in the wind. This shot reminded me of the beginning of Alien, with the panning shot across the cockpit, right before the Nostromo "wakes up." In it, we see an open book, and its pages are blowing in the wind (or whatever you call it when it's contained inside a spaceship).
