How would the Fifield massacre scene have originally played out?

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed somewhere but I'm curious about how the scene with Fifield returning to the ship and massacring the crew would have originally played out. We know there was some strange editing that occurred because we have footage/images of Weyland, David, and Ford stepping out together on the ground level of the ship--with the merc pointing his gun. We also have an image and footage of Shaw backing over Fifield with the "car" (or whatever we're calling it).

In the finished film, Fifield's return to the ship is inter-cut with Shaw running down the hall following her C-section. We know that Janek and his co-pilots help him go down there and handle Fifield's return. Later, Janek encounters Shaw putting on her suit to join Weyland, Ford, and David to see the Engineer. But given Janek's state, this is after he's already seen the Fifield massacre (which he doesn't mention).

During the Fifield massacre in the finished film, after he's run over, whoever is driving that automobile drives off the ship in the direction of the Engineer temple (which effectively ruins the continuity of the editing).

SO - in short - how do you think, given what we've seen both in and out of the finished film, this scene was to originally have played out? And what was shot/added later? I'm assuming only the Janek and Shaw conversation. And if they'd edited out the driving away after running over Fifield, it wouldn't pose such a huge continuity error. But I'm curious what others think.
